Waste Management Public Engagement

The Waste & Recycling Team would like to invite you to participate in a survey about Chatham-Kent's waste management programs. The survey results will inform the Service Review Committee (SRC) and will impact the design of the next waste contract (effective January 2024). Your participation in this survey will be greatly appreciated.

Context:

In April of 2021, Council approved Administration’s recommendation to extend the current waste contract for an additional 2 years from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2023. This recommendation was made based on imminent changes in provincial regulations, policies and a possible organics diversion program. The report to Council outlined a community engagement plan, which included a public survey. The public survey results will inform the SRC whose findings will play a critical role in the design of the next waste contract Request for Proposal (RFP).

The goals of the survey are to gather your input on:

1. Current levels of service
2. Areas of improvement
3. Recommendations on the design of the next Waste Collection Services RFP

Project Milestones:

The survey will take 10 - 15 minutes to complete. You will need to register before starting the survey.

Note: There will be no questions related to recycling collection services in this survey, as the Municipality will not be responsible for collecting recycling as of 2024. Instead, recycling collection will be the responsibility of the Producers, as per the updated Blue Box Regulation under the Ontario Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act.
