Webinar: Who are Low German-Speaking Mennonites?
Belonging to a cultural or religious group is an important part of many people's everyday lives. This is especially true among the Low German-speaking community and this engaging webinar will help address the sensitivities to be aware of when working and interacting with the Low German speaking population.
Anne Wall, Elgin St. Thomas Family and Children's Services kinship worker, will give an overview of Mennonite history, highlighting Anabaptist roots and discussing the key beliefs which unite all Mennonite groups. Specifically, it explores issues such as pacifism, education, gender roles and the impact of cultural and faith values.
This webinar is particularly helpful for service providers who are starting to work with the Low German speaking population or want to expand their knowledge and cultural awareness of this diverse group. Participants can expect a blend of speaker-led and peer-to-peer learning.
Friday, November 3 from 9am to 12pm EST.
Cost is $20 before October 15th and 425 after.
