Stats Can Population Projections for 2041: Growing Diversity!

Today, Statistics Canada's Centre for Demography is releasing a new set of demographic projections to 2041 on immigration and ethnocultural diversity for Canada and its regions.

The projections anticipate that trends related to growing diversity in Canada will continue. Another reason to learn about and incorporate diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in our work!


Key Points:

  • about 2 in 5 Canadians will be part of a racialized group
  • between 42-47% of working age people will be from a racialized group
  • half of the Canadian population will be made up of immigrants and their Canadian-born children
  • 1 in 4 Canadians will be born in Asia or Africa
