• Volunteer: CK Reconcili-ACTION Committee

  Maawnjidimi Urban Indigenous Network are looking for volunteers to participate on a Reconcili-ACTION Committee to plan and coordinate activities and events for CK in 2023.

  The first meeting is on Wednesday, May 10th from 7-8PM via Zoom.

• Municipal Committees Looking for Volunteers

  Two of our Municipal groups are recruiting volunteer members with the intention of including people from various communities, with varying perspectives, and experiences. Please share with folks who may be interested. These Committees are a great way to network, understand some of the work that the Municipality does, and contribute to the community.

• Halal Ahlan Bazaar

  You are invited to the Chatham Islamic Centre (310 McNaughton Ave. West Chatham) this Saturday & Sunday, March 4th and 5th from 2 - 6 pm for the Halal Ahlan Bazaar! Enjoy clothing, jewellery, food, sweets and learning about the cultures of people who practice Islam.

  As we continue to celebrate Black History Month, learn why the month is important to Chatham-Kent in this video collaboration with Chatham-Kent Community Attraction and Promotion, Buxton National Historic Site and Museum, Chatham-Kent Black Historical Society & Black Mecca Museum, Ontario Heritage Trust (Josiah Henson Museum of African-Canadian History), Buxton's Next Generation, Lambton Kent District School Board, Chatham-Kent Local Immigration Partnership, and Chatham-Kent Police Service.

  In honour of Black History Month, the Municipal Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) team is partnering with Capitol Theatre, Living CK, Buxton National Historic Site and Museum, Buxton's Next Generation, the Chatham-Kent Black Historical Society and Black Mecca Museum, and the Josiah Henson Museum of African-Canadian History to giveaway tickets to the February 12th performance of FREEDOM! The Spirit and Legacy of Black Music and tours to each of the 3 nationally significant sites.

  About TeaMWork Migrant Support Program:

  In recognition of their need to support some of the nation’s most vulnerable and isolated workers, the Government of Canada announced the Migrant Worker Support Program (MWSP) as part of Budget 2021. Informed by the lessons learned from the Migrant Worker Support Network Pilot, the MWSP aims to support community-based organizations in the provision of migrant worker-centric programs and services.

  Funded by Employment and Social Development Canada, TeaMWork is a project under the Migrant Worker Support Program. The purpose of the program is to provide migrant workers with accurate information and access to available services and supports, and to assist them in learning about and exercising their rights while in Canada.
