Erieau Community Association

The Erieau Community Association (ECA) mandate is to provide a liaison between concerned citizens of Erieau and the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and its Council, and to communicate with members about matters affecting our community.

The surveys have been done, meetings held, and the results complied. The ECA engaged the community to develop a strategic plan for Erieau.

The goal of the ECA Strategic Planning Committee was to develop a multiyear strategic plan for Erieau related to projects which are prioritized by the community of Erieau residents and property owners. The plan will provide direction for fundraising activities and allocation of funds. The plan was developed in partnership with the municipality of Chatham-Kent.

This was a huge and extremely important project that took many months and many meetings to put together all the suggestions and comments in a short and easy to understand document. We need the help of the entire community to implement the plan. Whether your skills are in nature and trails, fundraising, communications, general helper for many of the “in-kind” projects, we need your involvement.

When developing the priorities of the community, we worked with the municipality to:

  • Build awareness and understanding about CK’s four areas of strategic priorities – Jobs, People, Health and Financial Sustainability.
  • Discussed how these CK priorities might align with Erieau priorities.
  • Identify community priorities and projects to assist the Mayor, Council and Administration in establishing priorities and resource allocation.

If you haven’t already, we encourage you to sign up to receive information from the association. Should you wish to contact us by email, our email address is erieaucommunity@gmail.com Updates will also be posted on the Firemen’s/Community Bulletin Board from time to time as well.

Thanks for visiting, come back often to see what's new. In the words of many an old sailor; May you have fair winds and following seas!

As summer residents of Erieau, we would like to suggest the installation of bike paths. They are needed on the main road in and out of Erieau (Mariners and Ross lane?). And also the 2 streets to both marinas. The traffic on these streets is very busy in the summer months.

As a former business owner in Erieau, our livelihood largely depended on the tourism aspect. The village and the residents are exceptional and whatever improvements are made, it needs to be mutually beneficial to both, the residents and the tourism of the community. I would like to continue to receive emails on this.

My family has owned property in Erieau since 1942, the future of the area is very important to us. We spent many summers swimming, skiing and fishing.
Not to offered but I have to ask: Other than residents what qualifications do the members have? Do we have Architects, planners, civil engineers etc. on the committee?

I take an interest in this lake and shore line, not living there I'm puzzled how Chatham -Kent is connected to village on lake Erie . I have a project idea for sand / beaches in summer months.

Hi There, looking at the Erieau Location, my first suggestion would be to figure out how to extend some of the land towards the two little sort of islands to the East of Erieau Beach. Extending the property offers a lot of advantages to possibly erect other structures & further protect some shoreline erosion. This would be a big project but I think its doable with support perhap's from various levels of government. The idea here would be to think BIG & put a 3-5 year plan in place to make Erieau more unique than it already is...not just a spit of land with a little bit of a beach front. I submit these ideas respectfully yours, Bob Christie, B.A., B.Ed. M.Ed.

Chatham-Kent (like just about everywhere else) has jumped on the ridiculous real estate bandwagon. Not very many people can afford the insane rent, let alone purchase one.
