Corporate Engagement I: Corporate Mitigation Action (Reducing GHG Emissions)

About This Survey:

This is one of two corporate engagements planned as part of the development of the Chatham-Kent Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP). This survey has two objectives:

  1. Gathering information to better appreciate the knowledge level and the opinions of municipal staff on climate change, and

  2. Determine what corporate-level climate change mitigation actions are supported by municipal staff.

The second round of engagement will occur later in 2021/early 2022, with a focus on climate change adaptation action.

Not clear on what the terms mitigation and adaptation refer to? Check out this short video from the State of Wisconsin; it gives a nice and short Overview of Adaptation & Mitigation, or connect with Huda Oda (Engineering Technologist - Climate Change).

Local Climate Change Mitigation:

Climate Change Mitigation refers to implementing actions and initiatives that aim to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, which are responsible for the global warming effect causing the long-term change in climate. Municipalities control or directly influence over 50% of GHG emissions in Canada, meaning they have a crucial role to play in reducing GHG emissions.
